The" twelve seasons" of Vermont; each offering its own flavor and unique experience.

While the Stowe area is known throughout North America as the Ski Capital of the East, it is much, much more than just fantastic skiing. Each of the seasons, here in Northern Vermont, are brimming with exciting activities, new adventures, plenty of relaxation, and diverse cultural events. Something for everyone and the perfect escape for couples, families, and traveling friends.

The Brass Lantern Inn is an ideal home base for exploring the area. Our Inn is located just outside of the village making it a convenient starting point when venturing out to the days activity. In the warmer months hiking through Smuggler's Notch is popular among our guests, as is kayaking and bicycling. All offer a beautiful scenic tour of the gorgeous Vermont countryside at a comfortable, leisurely pace. Also popular is horse back riding, and carriage/wagon rides.

For a breathtaking aerial view of the area and mountains, why not try our new Zip Line Tour or a glider airplane ride. The Zip Line Tour glides through the forests and Green Mountains soaring downwards from 4,500 feet. An airplane glider provides a serene view with a smooth and graceful ride on silent wings.

Looking for a place to cool off? We know of some amazing waterfall pools or in our "home" pool, aka, The Swimming Hole, we can direct you to the ideal place to cool off in the summer. The Swimming Hole

How about a round of golf? A personal favorite for George who recommends the Stowe Country Club. The scenery alone is worth playing this course. It is a challenging yet playable and fun 18 holes of golf. And from our central location, we can help you put together a full golf outing exploring several mountain style golf courses; all within a 30 to 45 min. drive from the Inn.

For those looking for more adventure, how about rock climbing at Smuggler's Notch? Here, there are several beautiful climbing areas. Even if you are not a rock climber you may be interested in driving to the Notch, and walking some of the trails. It's a great site to see others enjoying the climb up the face of the mountains!

Autumn is a wonderful time of year to visit our area! Brisk and crisp New England air combined with stunning views of Vermont fall foliage make this time of year a traveler's favorite. Be sure to visit one of our local farms for apple picking, homemade jams & pies, pumpkins and fresh pressed apple cider.

In the winter months, how about snowshoeing? Many of our hiking trails of the summer are even more fabulous during the winter. The views are in many areas even more magnificent as you can see through the bare trees. One of our favorite snowshoeing activities is to hike out to Moss Glen Falls. Another great snowshoe trip is one lead by Umiak Outfitters where you hike from Waterbury Reservoir to the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory where you conclude the trip with a tour of the factory and of course sample the latest ice cream flavor of the day!

Winter sports abound in Northern Vermont. From fabulous skiing on famous Mt. Mansfield, to cross country skiing trails, and dog sledding. Each a unique adventure awaiting your arrival!

Need more ideas? We have an abundance of museums, gardens, galleries, factory tours, theatre, wine tasting, gourmet food, family fun, and of course lots of great shopping.
